FOUNDER, SOMEWHERE FUN SOCIAL - FULL-SCALE HOSPITALITY SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT
FORMER GLOBAL DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL MARKETING, IHG HOTELS & RESORTS + KIMPTON

Whitney is a social media strategist and agency owner with more than a decade of experience helping hotels and restaurants build brands people want to be a part of. Having led social media for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and IHG Hotels & Resorts and advised hospitality clients worldwide, she brings a rare combination of strategic know-how and hands-on expertise. A Brand Innovators Top 40 Under 40 marketer and Skiftie Award winner, Whitney believes great hospitality and great marketing start with understanding what people truly value.
Building best-loved kimpton hotels on social
Whitney entered the world of hospitality social marketing at hotel & restaurant brand darling Kimpton, where she had the honor of translating Kimpton’s mission - to be the best-loved hotel brand - to social and community engagement. Under leadership that supported her vision for building and nurturing Kimpton’s online community, she grew Kimpton’s social channels to best-in-class examples and a winner of “Best Social Media Presence - Hotels” in the inaugural Skiftie Awards.
Global social media at ihg hotels & resorts
At IHG, Whitney led a team of six social media managers and specialists tasked with executing social media strategies aligned with key business priorities across 18 global hotel brands, including InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, and Holiday Inn Express. Her role encompassed overseeing content and campaign excellence, around-the-clock global social care, and driving social performance metrics such as impressions, engagement, followers, and sentiment.
Somewhere fun
Today, Whitney owns a social media agency for hospitality clients called Somewhere Fun Social, providing full-scale social media management, bespoke social strategies, world-class photography and videography, and copywriting. She and her team work with global hotel brands and individual hotel clients.

Kimpton Social Password
A staple of Kimpton’s social media presence, still loved by guests today, Kimpton began revealing a “social password” twice a year exclusively on social media to engage guests and reward them for following the brand on social. Just say the password at check-in at any Kimpton hotel around the world, and guests receive a special surprise, such as comped valet parking, a free in-room movie, or complimentary cocktails at the bar.

IHG x U.S.
Open Tennis Tournament Partnership
During IHG’s inaugural year in partnership with the U.S. Open, Whitney and her team were tasked with developing and executing a strategy to captivate new followers and attract them to IHG. Together, they created a campaign with scroll-stopping tentpole moments, real-time surprises and delights, and livestreaming, resulting in millions of impressions across channels.

Assembly Food Hall
After founding Somewhere Fun Social, Whitney and her team were engaged to develop a goals-aligned social media strategy and perform monthly social media management for downtown Nashville, Tennessee staple Assembly Food Hall and its rooftop concert venue Skydeck on Broadway. They were also tasked with evolving the accounts’ social presence to attract a higher-spending guest. Within the first 3 months of partnership, her team elevated Assembly’s appeal to foodies and fans traveling to Nashville.

Why this summit

"For premium hospitality teams, content cannot be treated as a stream of disconnected posts. It has to become a system: one that connects brand strategy, creative craft, production, local adaptation and day-to-day execution. My background has always sat between creativity, business and delivery, and that's why this topic matters to me. The strongest brands are not just the ones with the best ideas, but the ones able to make those ideas travel without losing their soul."
About Whitney
After 11 years in San Francisco—including many spent at the home office of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants—Whitney traded the Bay Area for Nashville, where she continued leading social strategy for Kimpton and IHG Hotels & Resorts before launching her own agency. Today, she and her team partner with hospitality brands across the country to build social strategies that drive awareness, demand, and loyalty. A proud mother of two, Whitney is passionate about showing her children what it looks like to build a career around work you genuinely love. Because she's lived the day-to-day demands of the job herself, Whitney loves helping others find ways to work smarter, think bigger, and achieve more with less friction.
